A well-established regional law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its insolvency and restructuring practice in Winston-Salem, NC. This role is ideal for a motivated junior or mid-level associate with a passion for helping clients navigate financial distress and complex reorganizations.

The firm offers early partner contact, direct client exposure, and strong mentorship from senior attorneys. Associates are empowered to develop their advocacy and transactional skills while engaging in high-impact work involving business reorganizations, creditor disputes, and adversary proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 filings, including intake, schedules, and reorganization plans

• Draft pleadings, motions, and memoranda for adversary proceedings and contested hearings

• Support senior counsel in negotiations with creditors, trustees, and opposing parties

• Conduct due diligence on assets, liabilities, and financial disclosures for clients

• Represent clients in hearings, creditor meetings, and settlement conferences

• Monitor court timelines and ensure filings meet federal and local bankruptcy rules

• Collaborate on litigation and trial preparation related to restructuring disputes

• Contribute to firm content initiatives such as newsletters and client alerts

Qualifications:

• 1–6 years of experience in bankruptcy law, financial restructuring, or litigation

• Admission to the North Carolina Bar (or eligibility under reciprocity)

• Proficiency with electronic court filing systems and research tools

• Strong legal writing skills and comfort drafting complex motions

• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for client-facing work

• Willingness to contribute in both transactional and courtroom settings

• Litigation experience or aptitude for court appearances is a plus
