Job Description

Industry leading manufacturer in the food/beverage industry is seeking a Plant Supervisor for their night shift operations. This person is responsible for overseeing all production and operational activities during the overnight shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and quality manufacturing of products. This role leads a team of production personnel, monitors plant performance, resolves issues, and ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The overnight Plant Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining continuous operations and preparing for the next shift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Supervision:
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor a team of production operators, technicians, and other overnight staff.
• Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor performance to ensure production targets are met or exceeded.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues as needed.
• Manage employee time and attendance, including approvals for breaks, overtime, and time off.

Production & Operations Management:

• Oversee all manufacturing processes on the overnight shift, ensuring production schedules are met.
• Monitor machinery and equipment operation, identifying and reporting maintenance needs or issues.
• Ensure raw materials and supplies are available and properly managed for continuous production.
• Troubleshoot operational problems, making quick and effective decisions to minimize downtime.
• Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and quality.
• Prepare and review production reports, including output, downtime, quality metrics, and shift summaries.
• Coordinate with other shifts (day and evening) to ensure smooth transitions and information flow.

Safety & Compliance:

• Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all employees adhere to safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and identify potential hazards, taking immediate corrective action.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, completing necessary reports and implementing preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
• Oversee proper handling and disposal of waste materials.

Quality Control:

• Monitor product quality throughout the overnight shift, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct in-process quality checks and work with quality control personnel to resolve any non-conformances.
• Ensure proper documentation of production and quality data.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost reduction.
• Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen).
• Encourage employee suggestions for process optimization and problem-solving.

Communication & Reporting:

• Communicate effectively with employees, management, and other departments.
• Provide clear and concise shift reports, detailing production status, issues, and any relevant information for the incoming shift.
• Escalate significant issues or concerns to the Production Manager or Plant Manager as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role
